Membership in the Des Moines Historical Society helps to assure the history of Des Moines is not lost to future generations. Your support allows the DMHS to fill a much-needed gap in the Capital city because let's face it, when the seats of city, county, state and federal government all operate out of the same town, a few things get missed. We want to make sure the history and heritage of this great city isn't one of them. 

As a member, you'll enjoy receiving our e-newsletter on a regular basis which gives updated information on current DMHS-sponsored events, historical tidbits about Des Moines, and other relevant features. You'll also be invited to our exclusive Members Only events. These occasions allow members access to privately-owned historical homes, into the archives of major Des Moines-based companies such as EMC and Meredith, or personalized research days that give you the tools to uncover your own family history, or simply to satisfy your curiosity.

It's also an affordable way to support your community and raise the level of general knowledge about Des Moines' history.
